Oxford and District Mencap

Oxford & District Mencap was founded in 1961 by parents of children suffering from a wide range of learning disabilities.

Activities which are run include:

  • The 7 O’Clock Club – a social club for adults with a learning disability.
  • Glasbury holidays – members of the 7 O’Clock Club have been attending a six day outdoor activities course at Woodlands Glasbury on Wye, Powys, each July.
  • Hill End holidays have been running for well over 40 years now in the glorious Oxfordshire countryside. Oxford Mencap organises four weeks of summer holidays for people with learning disabilities. Around 15-20 campers attend each week together with similar numbers of volunteers.
